Jack London State Historic Park
Scheduled Group Tours for Students and Adults
Jack London State Historic Park invites groups of students and adults for an informative visit to learn about Jack London, his life and activities on the Beauty Ranch, and about the natural environment of the park. These tours are offered only during the week, except on Wednesdays, and require advance reservation.
From this site you may request one of several tours of the park:
The Adventurer - A hike to the Museum, Wolf House and Jack London's Grave Site, docent-led;
The Farmer - A hike to the Museum, Beauty Ranch and a tour of Jack London's Cottage, docent-l
The Senior Tour -A tour especially designed for senior groups arriving by bus, docent-led.
Extended Farmer - a tour of the Beauty Ranch, continuing to Jack's lake in the hills.
Self-Guided Tour, without docent. Groups may visit any part of the park, including the museum, on their own. However, docent-led groups will have priority access to the museum.
Before requesting a specific date, please check the availability of the desired date.
Only on-line requests are accepted. Please submit requests at least two weeks prior to the desired date.
Docents are scheduled approximately 2 weeks prior to the group tour. You may find the docents assigned to your group by checking the schedule.
Groups may visit the park and explore it on their own; they may have a museum time slot reserved, or they may request a docent-led tour. Docent-led groups are limited to 60, one group per day. We will attempt to provide one docent for each 15 – 20 people.
Due
to limited building size, visits to the museum are limited to 20 persons at a time.

Scavenger Hunt Form for the Museum and Scavenger Hunt Form for the Cottage. (please print). Encourage your students to thoroughly explore the park to find the answers on this form. Have the students bring pencils and work in pairs. The answers are available at the Museum Office.
Video Tour of the Park. Schools (K-12) may request the loan of a 20-minute DVD video which is an excellent preview of the park for the students. The video includes a brief biography of Jack London, many quotes, photographs and video clips. Each major feature of the park and its history is described. The video features subtitles for the hearing-impaired. The video may be requested on the Reservation Request form. We will mail the video to the school (allow 2 weeks for delivery). There is a $12 deposit which will be refunded when the video is returned at the park. The video is also available for purchase at the Park Store.
