Once inside the park, turn left to the main parking lot, where you will be met by your docents.
10 a.m.
is an ideal starting
time, which allows time for the tour, followed by a picnic. By early afternoon, the park gets quite hot in the summer
time.
There are two picnic areas in the park. There are picnic tables in the parking lot to the left of the entrance station (below the museum). The group picnic area is a short walk from the upper parking lot on a knoll overlooking the Beauty Ranch. (Turn right of the entrance station).
Groups may visit the park and explore it on their own; they may have a museum time slot reserved, or they may request a docent-led tour. Docent-led groups are limited to 60, one group per day. We will attempt to provide one docent for each 15 – 20 people.
Due
to building size, visits to the museum are limited to 20 persons at a time.
Three reservation time periods are available for the museum each day -
Our docents will meet your group rain or shine, unless you cancel. If you decide to cancel for any reason, call 707-938-5216. If you cancel on the morning of a docent-led hike, call docent coordinator Al Stumpf at 707-575-8084.
