Wildflower of the Month - May

Globe Lily aka Golden Fairy Lantern

(Calochortus amabilis),  Lily Family

Height 6-12”

The dainty Globe Lily can be found in our parks beginning in late April and by May is in full bloom.

Look for the Globe Lily on dry slopes, woodlands and chaparral areas. It is not uncommon to find it tucked under shrubs.

Currently there is a wonderful display on the slopes of Adobe Canyon Road leading into Sugarloaf, but during May you shouldn’t have a problem locating it in any of our 3 state parks.
